August 24, 1961 ~ February 10, 2018 (age 56)

Alan Robert Lowe, 56, of Norwalk died Saturday morning, February 10, 2018 at his home.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. with a Celebration of Life Service beginning at 7 p.m. Thursday, February 15th at O'Leary Funeral Services in Norwalk.  A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, February 16th at the Jordan Creek Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Alan's Life Story

Alan Robert Lowe was born August 24, 1961 to Robert and Marcia (Roby) Lowe in Marshalltown, Iowa. He was oldest of three children in his family. In 1967 the family completed construction on a home in Lakewood in Norwalk, Iowa. Alan grew up playing sports and going to school with his siblings, Michael and Jana. Alan was active in the Boy Scouts, youth church group at New Life Lutheran Church, and he played football and ran track for Norwalk High School. Alan graduated from Norwalk High School in 1980.

Alan married his high school sweetheart, Kelly Brogan, they were married for 16 years. To this union they had a daughter, Jessica.

After high school he attended Grandview College. Soon after he completed Journeyman’s Trade School. For the past 17 years he has worked for Baker Electric in Des Moines. Alan was involved deeply with the IBEW Local 347 for the past 19 years, where served on boards and was a highly active member.

Alan loved his daughter Jessica. One of their favorite memories was making Mickey Mouse pancakes together. He enjoyed playing golf, cooking barbeque and chili, and made world class baked beans. He was an active member of the Norwalk Lions Club and enjoyed organizing the Fourth of July fireworks.

Alan Lowe, age 56, passed unexpectedly on Saturday February 10, 2018 in his home.

Alan was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; his nephew Aaron Michael Lowe; and step-father Jerry Jordan.

Alan is survived by his daughter Jessica (Donnie) Horner of Kansas City, MO; parents Marcia Jordan of West Des Moines, and Robert (Clarice) Lowe of Sahuarita, AZ; siblings Michael (Suzy) Lowe of West Des Moines, and Jana (Troy) McCann of Clive; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
