Jean's Life Story

Doris “Jean”, the daughter of Orville and Ada Hollen, was born October 3, 1931 in St. Joseph, Missouri.

Jean was married to Jean Felton and together they had four children, Cynthia, Merle, Diana and Connie. Together Jean and her husband owned a restaurant called “The Platters” for many years.

After her time with the restaurant she volunteered to work with the handicapped and enjoyed her time as a homemaker. She loved sharing her time with her grandchildren and shared special memories with them. She always made them stockings around Christmas time for them to celebrate.

On Easter Sunday morning, April 16, 2017, Jean died suddenly at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.  Jean was blessed to live 85 years, 6 months, and 13 days.  Preceding her death were her daughter and her husband, Cynthia and Chuck Cooper,  her five siblings Anna May, Beverly, Carol "Susie", Drexel, Charles; and her grandson Cody Stuflick.

She is survived by her children, Merle Felton of New Virginia, Diana McDole of New Virginia, and Connie Felton of Indianola; her grandchildren Ashley (Kent) Murphy, Joe (Ashley) Felton, Nicki Felton, Christina (Fred) Elsinga, Donna Heldenbrand, Dani (Shane) Holtry, Tami (Don) Boutwell, Shana (Rich) Leto, Macy McDole, Dylan (Kiesha)  McDole, Ricky (Jaque) Cooper, Brian (Alyssa) Cooper, and Rockie (Bob) Lundy; her 20 great-grandchildren with two more on the way; and 10 great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way.
