Danny Paul Selsor of Des Moines, Iowa went to be with his Lord on March 3rd, 2018.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 8th with Celebration of Life Service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 9th at O’Leary Funeral Services in Norwalk. A luncheon will immediately follow services with burial Friday afternoon in Hopeville Cemetery, Hopeville, IA.

Danny's Life Story
Danny was born in Hopeville, Iowa on November 5th, 1943 to Paul Arthur Selsor and Helen Venice (Chew) Selsor. He has an older sister, Karen. His family moved to Des Moines when he was 7. He attended school at Fort Des Moines Elementary, Maple Grove Elementary , and graduated from Lincoln High School in January 1963. He went to Barber College in Grinnell following high school.
Danny owned Selsor Barber Shop in Saylorville, Iowa, and also worked for Moon Barber Shop in Des Moines. Danny started working for the City of Des Moines in 1968 and retired in December of 2000.
Danny and Cathy were married at Water Works Park on August 29th, 1980. Danny absolutely adored Cathy, they were inseparable from day one. They have five children Richard Selsor Sr., Sherry Coughennower, Joshua Swackhamer, Joseph (Sarah) Swackhamer, and Danny Selsor, II. They have nine grandchildren, Jonathon, Richard Jr., Jennifer, Jake, Chase, Ciera, Elaine, Josiah, and Ethan. He has a niece Shelly (Don) Wester and their children Nick (Andrea) Wester and Amanda (Nathan) Dill; great-nieces and nephews; and a host of family and good friends.
Danny loved sports especially softball, baseball, and volleyball. He loved watching his grandchildren play baseball at Fort Des Moines Little League and was at every dance recital. Danny’s passion was his family and his friends that felt like family. Danny loved classic cars and owned a 1951 Chevy Pickup and a 1948 Chevy Coupe. He loved going to classic car shows and flea markets. Danny and Cathy love having family and friends over to swim. Danny was a giver, if he wasn't giving you a gift he was giving you a hug. He was a member of Ft. Des Moines Church of Christ and enjoyed his Church family.
Danny is survived by his wife Cathy Selsor; his children Richie Sr., Sherry, Josh, and Joe; nine grandchildren; and his sister Karen (Allen) Perry; his mother-in-law, Catherine Comer; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and good friends.
Danny is preceded in death by his son Danny Paul Selsor, II; his parents Paul and Helen Selsor; and his father-in-law, Jack Comer.
