Jimmy's Life Story
Jimmy J. the son of Preston and Bessie (Blanchard) Perry, was born on April 26, 1934 in Fontanelle, Iowa. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1952. He enlisted into the United States Airforce and served his country honorably in Japan during the Korean Conflict. Following the service Jimmy worked for 40 years as an elevator mechanic, installing passenger and freight elevators.
Jimmy met his wife Mary Joyce Logan at the Tromar Roller Rink. They were married on November 15, 1957 at the First United Methodist Church in downtown Des Moines. Together they made their home in Council Bluffs for six years; returning to the Beaverdale area of Des Moines and later moving to Norwalk in 1967. They were one of the first few residents to live in the Lakewood neighborhood.
Jimmy loved to fish, hunt, and to water ski. He enjoyed his fishing trips to Canada. He was very supportive of his wife, Mary and her roller skating; traveling with her to National Competitions to such locations as Lincoln, Nebraska and Ft. Worth, Texas.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Mary of Norwalk; a brother, Melvin Dean Perry (and Betty) of Clive; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and three brothers.
