In the early 1970’s, she began working at Des Moines Savings and Loan as the Director of the Statesman Club. This job offered many opportunities to travel to such destinations as Norway, Alaska, Hawaii, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Washington D.C. After her retirement in 1991, Lorraine enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren, visiting neighbors, cooking, and baking. She was a long-time member of the Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.
