Lucretia's Life Story
Lucretia Marie was born in Des Moines, Iowa on February 17, 1919 to Domonick and Rose (Lavia) DeFino.  She attended the Des Moines school system and married Samuel Cimino on September 10, 1938.  They were blessed with four children, Anne, Domonick, Joseph and Rose.
Lucretia was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Des Moines.  She loved to crotchet and bake.  Always lookfing for a challenge she chose and mastered the hardest crochet patterns and the most unusual desserts.  An avid reader, she accumulated close to 100 western books by author, Zane Gray.  Lucretia's creativity, however, was no match for her generosity.  If she had it and you like it, it was yours.  You never left her house empty handed.
On Thursday morning, May 16, 2019 Lucretia passed away peacefully at the Iowa Jewish Senior Life Center where she resided this past year.  She lived 100 years, 2 months, and 29 days.   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sam Cimino in 2005; three brothers, Joe, Frank, and Armond; and a grandson, Tony in 2010.
Lucretia is survived by her two daughters, Anne Waggoner of West Des Moines and Rose Stufflebeam of Brenham, TX; two sons, Joseph Cimino of Tucson, AZ and Domonick (Anna) Cimino of Norwalk; her older sister, Jenny Reed; a younger brother Anthony DeFino; three sisters-in-law, six grandchildren, Juli, Randy, Kathleen, Alex, Bradley, and Christy; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and numberous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Please note
The morning of Lucretia's Mass of Christian Burial the family should plan to arrive at least one hour prior to the service beginning. The funeral procession will line-up along the curb heading westbound beginning at the front entrance of the church. There will be no limousines for the family so everyone should plan to drive their own vehicles to the cemetery. Depending on the consensus Tuesday during visitation we can have a vehicle for the pallbearers (or they can ride along with their families). For the Family and Friends that will be going to the cemetery car-pooling to the cemetery is suggested and encouraged. Following burial rites everyone is invited back the church for a lunch and time of fellowship. If there are any questions feel welcome to call Eric O'Leary' mobile at (515) 943-5400. Thank you!
