Marilyn (Harkin) Hartshorn, age 86, a life-long resident of Cumming, IA, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2018 with her children by her side.
Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. concluding with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. on Friday, October 19th with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, October 20th with all events to be held St. John the Apostle Catholic in Norwalk. Burial will be at the St. John Cemetery in Cumming. A luncheon for family and friends will follow at the St. John Parrish Hall after the burial.

The Life Story of Marilyn Rose Harkin Hartshorn
Marilyn Rose, the fifth of 15 children born to Daniel and Mary Harkin, she was born October 26, 1931 in Cumming, Iowa. She married Bill Hartshorn on August 22, 1953 and together they raised their family in her hometown of Cumming. Marilyn was devoted to her Catholic faith and her family. She shared her love through prayer, caring for others, plus cooking and baking.
On Tuesday morning, October 16, 2018 Marilyn passed away at Mercy Hospital with her five children by her side. She lived 86 years, 11 months, and 20 days. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son-in-law, John Nemetz; grandchildren, Anna and Spencer; siblings, Daniel, Gene, Harold, Raymond, Tony, Margaret and Martin.
Those left to continue her love of faith and family are her children, Mary Jane Nemetz (Jim Watts), Bob (Joni) Hartshorn, Joanne (Fritz) Nordengren, Teresa (Kent) Baker, and Fr. Chris Hartshorn; her grandchildren, Andy, Liza, Molly, Chase (Hope), Noah, Cara, Lauren, and Garret; and siblings, Ruth, Clare Ann, Lucille, Dennis, Richard, Ed and Rena.
