Minnie's Life Story

Minnie May Daniel was born June 15, 1922 to Harmon and Henrietta (Reynolds) Lovell. She grew up in Levy, Iowa. At an early age Minnie had a knack for music. She wrote her own songs, sang, played just about every instrument imaginable and learned to square dance. She wanted to go on tour with her brother Harlan, but her mother wouldn’t allow her.

When she came of age she moved to Des Moines. It is there she met her husband, Charles Daniel, They were married in 1943. To this union they had eight children; Danny, Linda, Charles Lyne, Lester, Jack, Jim, Kathy, and Laurie.

Minnie was a hard working mother. She worked for Kresge’s Five and Dime making donuts, subs, and anything baked. She was always home by the time the kids got back from school. She always enjoyed making big meals for the whole family, fried chicken and homemade bread were particular favorites.

After Minnie retired she spent her time raising children, five generations of children. She also spent her time playing bingo and going out to Prairie Meadows. She was also a frequent Goodwill shopper. She would collect different wildlife and Native American memorabilia.

On March 24, 2018, Minnie Daniel, age 95, entered God’s grace at her home in Des Moines, IA.

Preceding Minnie in death is her husband Charles, sons Danny and Lester, two grand daughters Candy and Shelly, and her siblings.

Minnie is survived by her children Linda (Mackie), Lyne (Rick), Jack (Julie), Jim, Kathy (Curt) and Laurie (Bill); and many, many grandkids.
