Deborah "Debbie" Gustafson-King, age 56, of Des Moines, died surrounded by her family Tuesday, March 10, 2020
A visitation with her family will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, March 13th with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 14th at O'Leary Funeral Services in Norwalk.
Deborah Alice Gustafson, the youngest child born to Albert William and Freda Gertrude (Anderson) Gustafson, was born on March 12, 1963 at the Wilden Hospital in Des Moines. She attended Brooks Elementary School through the age of 10 when her family moved to southeast Iowa graduating from Centerville High School with the Class of 1981. Debbie returned to Des Moines where she attended Des Moines Area Community College earning her associates degree. She worked in the Pension Department for Principal Financial Group for ten years and then as a receptionist at Unity Point Blank Children's Hospital.
In 1998 Debbie met Bill King and together they made their home in Norwalk; later moving to Des Moines 2016. Debbie enjoyed working in her flower beds and having fresh flowers in her home. She enjoyed small animals having a Pomeranian, named Tinker Toy, and a cat named Precious. She and Bill enjoyed traveling to visit friends and family throughout the midwest.
She is survived by her husband, Bill King; her two daughters, Keri Hollingsworth of Pleasant Hill and Billiejo Jones of Indianola; 7 grandchildren, Tatum, Trehver, Lucas, Demitri, Kevin, Rylie, and Jeffrey; four brothers, Gary Gustafson (Krystyna) of Peculier, MO, David Gustafson (Ann) of Leesburg, FL, Gail Gustafson (Deborah) of San Antonio, TX, and Don Gustafson (Kim) of Spring Hill, KS.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
