Dolores “Dee” Leone Thompson passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Norwalk on November 20, 2021. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, and Dee will be laid to rest in the Langdon Cemetery in Spencer.
She was born to Bill and Marie (Draple) Broadfield on December 18, 1935 in Chicago, Illinois. Dee grew up in Chicago along with her sister Donna and brother William, and graduated from Fenger High School.
Dee worked as an insurance underwriter, but her favorite role was as a stay-at-home mom to her daughter Lynn and her son Donald. Dee touched many people with her heart, smiles and laughter. She was quick-witted and could make anyone laugh. Dee had a kind, giving soul, but preferred to do things in secret and didn’t want any of the glory. She truly gave from the heart. She loved her children and was a devoted mother, a great provider and supporter to them.
Dee was preceded in death by her mother; Marie Renk, step-father Fred Renk; husband, Kenneth Peterson; her brother, Billy, and her son, Donald Peterson.
Dee will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lynn (Larry) Preston; her grandchildren, Jamie (Charles) Alimena, Jaxon Alimena (great grandson) Spirit Lake Iowa, Jenni (Tyler) Freiheit, and Maddox, Paxton and Aspen (great grandchildren) of Clifton, Virginia, Ashley Miner (Levi Mathis), Mia and Ava (great grandchildren) of Iowa; and her sister, Donna Condon-Farrel, of Lafayette, Indiana, and many other family members and friends.
