Donald William Berry, age 91, of Indianola passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, December 3 at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 am on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church, with a funeral service at 11:00. Burial will immediately follow the service at the Scotch Ridge Cemetery.
Don was born August 8, 1930, in Warren County Iowa to William Jess Berry and Letha May (Coon).
He was raised with his siblings, Audrey, Pete, Hank and Cecil.
Don served in the United States Marine Corps, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He married Isabel Alice Miller on January 12, 1952 at the Scotch Ridge Presbyterian Church where he was a life long member. He and Isabel farmed just outside of Norwalk his entire life.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Isabel, his siblings, Audrey Kinser, Richard “Pete” Berry, and Henry “Hank” Berry and his daughter Elizabeth May Clark.
He is survived by his three children; Jean (Sean) McGuire of Pasadena, TX, John (Roberta) Berry of Norwalk, and Frank Berry of Indianola; 7 grandchildren, Kevin (Jenni), Angela (Nathan), Charles (Taylor), Jack (Danielle), Connor (Amy) Alice and Mitchell; 12 great-grandchildren and his brother, Cecil.
