Donna K. Onstot, 93, of Norwalk left this world on September 25th, 2021. Born March 30, 1928, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Antone and Helen Kern, she lived on a farm with her parents and loved retelling stories about growing up on the farm in Richmond, Iowa. She graduated from Kalona High School in 1946. On July 2, 1949, Donna united in marriage to Theodore (Ted) Onstot, and they made their home in Norwalk. Donna worked at Travelers Insurance Company and Solar Aircraft Company, until it closed in 1960. She moved on to work for the U.S. Postal Service and retired as Post Mistress in Norwalk in 1989. Donna and Ted enjoyed spending winters with family and friends in Apache Junction, AZ, for many years. She enjoyed attending Postal Conventions/luncheons and Red Hat outings, but above all she loved being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. Donna was a very social lady who loved conversation and would chat for hours on the phone with family and friends she loved so dearly. Often times, when the home phone was busy, her family knew to call her on her cell phone. Her sons/grandchildren often received evening calls, most days “checking in” to see what they had been up to. She is survived by her sons, Mark and Tony (Missy) Onstot; grandsons, Anthony (Jill), Timothy, Lukas (Nikki), and Christopher (Samantha); great-grandchildren, Bowen, Adalynn, Audree, Dexter, Jaxsen, and Mia; extended family members, Michaela (Lacey) Lester and families; and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore (Ted) Onstot, two brothers, four sisters, and two nephews. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Angela Murphy, Pat Letto, and the staff at Prairie Vista Village and Suncrest Hospice for their extraordinary care and kindness. She loved them all and was so excited to see them walk through the door to check on her each day.
