Dorothy Mae (Hatfield) Hildreth, age 93, of Norwalk died peacefully Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Norwalk Nursing & Rehab Center in Norwalk.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 10:30 AM at Norwalk Christian Church in Norwalk. Burial will immediately follow at the Norwalk Cemetery.

Dorothy Mae (Hatfield) Hildreth was born on January 9, 1928 in Norwalk to Earl & Lila Mae (Gallaway) Hatfield.
Dorothy married the love of her life, Jack Hildreth on March 5, 1945 in Dyersberg, Tennessee, prior to him going to war. The following year, she graduated from Norwalk High School. Together, Dorothy and Jack made a home in Norwalk and raised a family, bringing into this world Janet, Martin, Ed and Jean.
As a homemaker, Dorothy enjoyed sewing, craft-making, cake decorating and being a member of the garden club, eventually becoming the Club’s president. Along with being a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Dorothy was a regularly active member of the Norwalk Christian Church where she taught Sunday School, assisted with rummage sales and any other church activity.
Dorothy passed from this life on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Norwalk Nursing & Rehab Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack, parents Earl & Lila Mae Hatfield, sisters Betty Tretheway & Frances Essick, daughter-in-law Bernadette Hildreth and son-in-law Bill Gilbert.
Dorothy’s memory will be cherished by her children Janet Gilbert of Missouri, Martin Hildreth of Montana, Ed (Nancy) Hildreth of Norwalk, Jean (Robert) Wollaston of Ankeny, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren, her sisters Margaret Harper of Arizona and Marian Perkins of Norwalk.
Memorials may be made to Norwalk Christian Church in memory of Dorothy Hildreth.
