Douglas, the son of Sherwin and Mary Cook was born on May 7, 1990 in Des Moines, Iowa. He worked as a Journeyman sheetmetal worker with Local 45 in Des Moines.
Doug loved his fiance, Jenna Yount. He truly enjoyed outdoor adventures; his friends; and was a talented artist and craftman. He loved his pets and now watching over all of us with his beloved dog, Bear. Doug was a good friend to many; and with his bright-light personality lit up the room with his gentle smile and sense of humor.
He will always be cherished and remember by those who survive him includinging his parents; fiancee; siblings, Daniel Lovett, Jacob Korbakes (Adrianne), Cheri Cook (Justin), and Colton Cook; his grandmother, Ardith Cook; and many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
Doug was a very spiritual person whom felt deeply; and will truly be missed by all who knew him. For anyone who is considering [or may have considered] the thought or act of suicide; Doug's family wants you to know that there is hope and to please consider reaching out to a close friend or family member.
There are times that we all feel some-type of despair and that ending it all will solve all our problems; but it dosen't and it only adds additional grief and unaswerd questions to those that are left to mourn. Its during these times we need those that we feel most loved by our [at your] side; to lean on them and to allow them to help carry the burden until we feel better once more.
If you [or someone you know] feel as though you need someone there beside you; please don't hesitate and reachout to the Suicide Prevention Hotline website, call 1-800-273-8255 and please reachout to those you trust.
Remember you're never alone.
