Janet Marie (Youngblut) Miller was the oldest of five children born to Lawrence “L.C.” and Mildred (Lower) Youngblut on December 14, 1945 in Oran, Iowa.

Jan attended Wapsi Valley High School in Fairbank where she met the love of her life, David Miller when they were 16 years old.  They were married on June 18, 1966 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Fairbank, Iowa.  Dave and Jan were blessed with two sons, Christopher and Nicholas.

Jan attended Iowa State University and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a teaching degree.  She was a Home Economics teacher for more than 20 years in Cedar Falls. Jan kept busy with many activities over the years.  She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, the Friends Gourmet Club, of which she was a member for over 40 years, the Red Hat Society, the Core Team for directing Deaconates, she was the head chef for feeding the homeless, and participated in 1840’s re-enactments for over 25 years.  Jan was well known for her fabulous cooking and won too many contests to count.  She had over 200 hours scuba diving and spent time weaving beautiful rugs.
