Janet Miller, age 74, of Norwalk died peacefully Tuesday morning, December 1, 2020 at home in Norwalk.
Visitation will be on Friday, December 4, 2020 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at O'Leary Celebration of Life Center in Norwalk. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the number of guests in the building will be restricted and face masks & social distancing are required.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, December 4, 2020 at 7:00 PM at O’Leary Celebration of Life Center in Norwalk. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, face masks & social distancing are required. The Rosary will be available for streaming on the O’Leary Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook page beginning at 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk. Burial will follow at the Norwalk Cemetery. The Mass of Christian Burial will be available for streaming on the O’Leary Funeral & Cremation Services Facebook page beginning at 10:00 AM.

Janet Miller’s Life Story
Janet Marie (Youngblut) Miller was the oldest of five children born to Lawrence “L.C.” and Mildred (Lower) Youngblut on December 14, 1945 in Oran, Iowa.
Jan attended Wapsi Valley High School in Fairbank where she met the love of her life, David Miller when they were 16 years old. They were married on June 18, 1966 at the Immaculate Conception Church in Fairbank, Iowa. Dave and Jan were blessed with two sons, Christopher and Nicholas.
Jan attended Iowa State University and graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a teaching degree. She was a Home Economics teacher for more than 20 years in Cedar Falls. Jan kept busy with many activities over the years. She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, the Friends Gourmet Club, of which she was a member for over 40 years, the Red Hat Society, the Core Team for directing Deaconates, she was the head chef for feeding the homeless, and participated in 1840’s re-enactments for over 25 years. Jan was well known for her fabulous cooking and won too many contests to count. She had over 200 hours scuba diving and spent time weaving beautiful rugs.
The family has requested memorial donations may be made to the Connection Cafe through St. John the Apostle Catholic Church (make checks payable to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church).
Jan will be lovingly remembered by her husband, David, her sons Christopher (Sarah) and Nicholas (Jeffrey); her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Shane), Alex (Emily), Samantha (Ty), Zachary (Allie) and Carson; great-granddaughter Peyton; siblings Nancy (Ken) Klesner of Glendale, Arizona, Larry (Christine) Youngblut of Darnestown, Maryland, Kathryn (Tom) Noon of Chesapeake, Virginia and Roger (Teresa) Youngblut of Davenport, Iowa; and her beloved dog, Sophie.
