Jennifer Jo Butler-Thomas, age 47, died Saturday, March 6, 2021 at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines.
The family will host a celebration of life for Jen on Saturday, March 13th, from 2pm - 6pm at 3703 Prairie Sage Drive, in Norwalk, IA.

Jennifer Jo, the daughter of Joseph and Linda (Myers) Butler, Sr., was born on November 12, 1973 in Winterset, Iowa. Along with her parents & three brothers (Joey, Bobby & Eddy), the family lived in Winterset, Grimes and eventually settling in Norwalk where she graduated in the Class of 1992 from Norwalk High School.
After high school, Jen enjoyed traveling including being able to live in Florida, Washington State, and Montana before returning home to Iowa. Jen was able to share in her love of traveling with her three children: Hunter Joseph, Lindy Bea, and Halle Jo.
In November of 2014, as fate would have it, Jen was reunited with an old friend that would become the love of her life, Conrad Thomas. The two started dating and became husband and wife on December 9, 2017 at Walnut Woods State Park in West Des Moines.
Jen worked as a server & bartender at Rookies in Waukee. Being someone who enjoyed meeting people & having fun, Jen took her talents to the Iowa State Fair in 2014 to work at the Bud Tent off and on throughout the rest of her life.
After a five-year battle with Niemann-Pick Disease, Jennifer Jo peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2021. She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents Liston & Hazel Courtney, her father Joseph Butler, Sr. and brother Robert Butler, Sr.
Jen’s memory will be forever remembered & cherished by her husband, Conrad Thomas; her mother, Linda Butler; three children, Hunter Gracey (Stephy Neigum-Just) of Granite Falls, WA, Lindy (Michael) Bernstrauch of Seeley, MT, and Halle Gracey (Jason Kramer) of Des Moines; two step-children, Jon Tucker Thomas and Mia Madeline Thomas; brothers Joseph Butler Jr. (Michelle) of Norwalk, Edwin Butler of Des Moines; sister-in-law Chris Butler of Texas; grandmother Johneta Horner of Norwalk; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; two grandchildren Bennett Joseph & Ellah Lou; and Jen’s spirit will live on in her soon-to-be grandson, Colt Joseph.
