Laura Anna, the daughter of Earl Arthur and Lois Anna (Ross) Hogan, was born on October 22, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She grew up in Greenwood, Indiana and graduated from the high school there in 1961. When her children were younger they moved to Norwalk, Iowa.
Laura earned her associates degree in computer programming and accounting from A.I.B. (American Institue of Business). She worked for over 20 years as an executive secretary for the Holiday Inn on Fleur Avenue near Grays Lake. After the floods of 1993 that hotel was closed due to severe flood damage and relocated to it's present location across from the Des Moines Airport. In addition to her secretarial duties she basically managed the different areas and staff at the hotel. Laura also had worked at Fiserv where she worked in the accounting department and bank reconciliation areas.
Laura loved being a mother and a doting grandmother and being involved with their lives. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden where she was known for growing green beans, peas, onions and sweet corn. One of her hobbies included family ancestorial and genealogy; long before the days of when computers made this research easier.
Laura passed away peacefully following a short illness on Tuesday evening, August 17, 2021 at Regency Care Center in Norwalk. She lived 75 years, 9 months and 28 days. She was preceded in death by her parents. Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Matthew (Krista) Stout of Norwalk and Michael "Tim" Stout of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a brother, Michael (Masumi) Hogan of Orange County, California; and four grandchildren, Connor J. Stout, Eric Stout, Stephen Stout, and Matthew "Quinn" Stout.
