Marjory’s Life Story
Marjory Louise, the daughter of Harold Orval and Dorothy Miriam (Wildman) Harris, was born June 9, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa. She graduated from Humboldt High School with the Class of 1948; during this time, she involved with band where she played the drums and was voted Miss Humboldt.
Marjory married the love of her life Kenneth “Fuzz” Burk on April 10, 1949. To this union they were blessed with four children; and they made their home in Renwick before moving to Norwalk, Iowa in 1980. Marjory worked as full-time homemaker, school bus driver, and held jobs as an insurance agent and bank teller. In the summer months she would drive bus for kids that were detassling corn.
During their retirement years Marjory and Kenneth enjoyed farming, camping, and horseback riding.
In late 2015 they retired to Indianola where Kenneth died on October 25, 2016. Marjory reunited with her husband, Kenneth on Tuesday evening, May 5, 2020 living 89 years, 10 months, and 26 days. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; a brother; and a brother-in-law.
She will be deeply missed by all those that knew her including her four children, Susan Collins of Norwalk, Mary (Tim) Graves of Cedar Falls, Tom (Audy) Burk of Garfield, Ark., and David (Loretta) Burk of Norwalk; a sister, Barb Thorson of Norwalk (formerly of Humboldt); a sister-in-law, Louise Harris; and dear friends, Dave (Kathy) Petersen of Norwalk. Also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
