Max Wiggins

March 17, 1943 ~ January 23, 2022 (age 78) 78 Years Old


Max Eugene Wiggins, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather,  mechanic, and fisherman, passed away at the age of 78 on January 23, 2022. He enjoyed country music, fishing, video poker, the San Francisco 49ers and being a grandpa. His family was always the center of his world and he truly enjoyed all the activities of his daughters and grandchildren.

Born on March 17, 1943, in Fontanelle, Iowa, Max was the third of five children of Earl and Edna (Weber) Wiggins, growing up on farms in Adair County. He graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1961. He married Jane (Hohman) Wiggins, 58 years ago with whom they had two children. He worked his entire career as a John Deere field mechanic and retired in 2008 from Murphy Tractor. He also enjoyed working on cars, lawnmowers, and other small equipment for family and friends as well as doing snow removal in his spare time. 

Max is survived by his loving and caring wife, Jane, children: Jerri (Jeff) Cookman of Carlisle and Jodi (Mike) Becker of Johnston, grandchildren; Connor Becker, Logan Becker, Kyleigh Cookman (Alec Henbury); great grandchild River Henbury. Also surviving are his siblings Dean (Pam), Gary (Nonie), Diane (Bob) Edwards and sister-in-law Nancy, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Max was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald.

A special thanks to his nurse Kelly and aide Lindsey and the entire staff at UnityPoint Hospice at Home for their care and support given to Max. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Max or UnityPoint Hospice at Home.
