Paul Joseph Swift

March 20, 1959 ~ January 21, 2022 (age 62) 62 Years Old

Paul Joseph Swift, age 62, peacefully passed away in his home on January 21, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. He was called home to the Lord after enduring a courageous battle with cancer.

Born March 20, 1959 to Cyril and Mary Swift, Paul was raised in Cumming, Iowa along with his two brothers and three sisters. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1977.

On October 27, 1990, Paul and Kayla were joined in marriage and enjoyed 31 beautiful years together. They built their home in Norwalk, Iowa where they raised their one and only daughter, Danielle, who will always be known as his “Dani girl”.

Paul was known for his quiet, humble, kind and gentle spirit. His unconditional love for his family and generosity in helping others were his greatest qualities. Everyone loved his dry sense of humor. And his unexpected witty remarks kept us all on our toes until the very end!

Paul was a hardworking man who dedicated 33 years of service to the City of Norwalk Public Works Department.

Paul used his creativity in many ways. Christmas was something Paul put lots of thought into, as he planned and created such personal and beautiful metal artwork gifts for those he loved. He proudly created many beautiful metal pieces that are displayed throughout Norwalk. He also enjoyed three years of sharing and selling his artwork at the Norwalk Farmer’s Market.

Paul was an avid Iowa Hawkeye football fan and loved watching NASCAR. He really enjoyed mowing and maintaining his acreage and took great pride in how things looked.

Paul also enjoyed his good share of “toys” including dune buggies, go carts, four wheelers, rebuilding a motorcycle, and even used his creative ingenuity to convert a lawn mower into a mini backhoe. From drones to potato guns to homemade trailers, he loved it all!

What we will most remember about Paul was his ability to persevere throughout this difficult battle. We watched Paul’s faith deepen by the day. His strong faith in the Lord and total reliance upon God undeniably carried him throughout this entire journey.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Kayla, and his daughter Danielle. He will be greatly missed by his siblings: Anna (Domonick) Cimino, Jerry Swift, Rita Krumbholz, David (Suzanne) Swift, and Lisa (Anthony) Scaglione, along with several nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his mother-in-law, Daylene Ellis, sister-in-law Kim Ginkens, and brother-in-law Kelly (Tammy) Ellis.

He is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, Cyril and Mary Swift, father-in-law, Larry Ellis, brother-in-law, Mark Krumbholz, sister-in-law, Debbie Swift, nephew, Tony Cimino, and great nephews, Hayden and Rylan Sellner.

There will be no services at this time, although all cards and prayers are greatly appreciated by the family. Condolences may be sent to Kayla and Danielle Swift at 837 Sawgrass Drive, Norwalk, Iowa 50211.
