Bob's Life Story
Robert "Bob" the son of Robert Charles Belmonte, a Chicago Police Officer and Rose Marie (Hesseltine) Belmonte, a Retired World Champion Woman Wrestler who legalized Women's Wrestling in 7 states, was born June 11, 1961 in Chicago, IL. Shortly after he was born his parents moved to Des Moines to be near Rose's family. Here his parents owned and operated several restaurants, lounges and night clubs. Bob graduated from Dowling High School in 1979. While in school he was involved with football and basketball.
Bob worked in his parent's restaurants and businesses where he also performed by singing. He was well known for singing Elvis, Engelbert Humperdinck, Tony Orlando and Frank Sinatra. After the sale of the family restaurants, Bob worked at Friedman Toyota of Des Moines as a salesman; and later for over 35 years at Shelter Insurance in Des Moines where he was referred to as "The Godfather" but nicknamed "Buster".
Bob met Debbie Booth in Des Moines while she attended the La'James College of Hairstyling. They were married on January 5, 1985 at St. John Catholic Church in Cumming. Together they made their home in Cumming and to this union they had a son, Dustin born in 1991. Bob was an awesome father. He was always very supportive of Dustin attending all of his extra-curricular activities. Bob and Debbie also enjoyed going to the casino and "just-unwinding" enjoying one another's company. They would also go to auctions and flea markets; buying, selling and collecting major sports memorabilia.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Debbie and son Dustin of Cumming; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Peggy Booth of Carroll; a nephew, Bret (Sandy) Booth and their children, Kasey and Kaleb; and a niece, Kendra (Jeff) Peterson and their children, Remington and Timberlyn. He is also survived on the Hesseltine side of the family by a host of relatives, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1985 and his mother in 2001.
